Doodles Unleashed. Lesson 1

I am doing a free online art class taught by Traci Bautista and sponsored by Strathmore. Making time to make art is something that I want to do more this year. I have Traci's book Collage Unleashed which is great and also have taken an in-person art workshop with her. She is the first mixed media artist that I really started following.

The class is called Doodles Unleashed and here is the finished artwork from the first lesson.

I think you can still sign up for the free online art workshop and there are also a couple more to try if you want to learn something new (and why not?)

Pics of my studio

Well, here's a picture of my studio about a month ago. It's actually been re-arranged since but I have not had a chance to take pictures so I thought I'd share this one. I collect those wire mannequin forms (get them from HomeGoods) and have them displayed on top of the Ikea Expedit 5x5 unit. I love that thing! My desk is also from Ikea...so are the curtains (and more stuff you can't see). The chandelier used to be a boring cream color (my neighbor was going to trash it and I saved it). I spray painted it black and it's pretty cool. The only thing I don't like about it is all the wattage it uses from the 9 light bulbs it has. Hubby put in a dimmer switch for me though so I can dim it down when I want to. I keep my art books, journals, art supplies, idea books and magazines, office supplies, and other 'stuff' in the cubbies. 

rearranging my studio space

Now that I have my own studio space, I have been trying to organize all my supplies, books and files so that it works and looks good. I love Ikea and have lots of their stuff in my studio. I have been arranging and rearranging my space since we moved (almost 4 months now) and today I did some more. Seems like I need everything organized before I can truly focus on my 2010 goals. I'll post some pics soon!
